Distributed ALGOrithms research group

Welcome to the webpage of the DALGO team
from Laboratoire d’Informatique et Systèmes (LIS - UMR CNRS 7020) at Aix-Marseille University Campus Luminy, Marseille.

Description

The Distributed Algorithmics team (DALGO) located in the Luminy campus is a team from the “Laboratoire d’Informatique et Systèmes” (LIS, UMR CNRS 7020). The concept of a distributed system is fundamental both for practical applications and for the theoretical foundations of computer science. A distributed system is an environment where several processes work together to achieve a common goal; in such a system, the different processes can only communicate directly with a limited number of other processes. We seek to determine what are the global results that can be obtained in these systems where the actions of the processes have only a local impact. The DALGO team is interested in the computing power of the different distributed models, and the complexity of related problems.

The topics of interest mainly considered by the team are:

  • Design and analysis of distributed algorithms
  • Mobile agent systems
  • Shared memory systems and fault tolerance
  • Modeling of dynamic networks
  • Embedded systems and synchronous programming
